The multiplayer section of the upcoming Uncharted 4 will feature microtransactions from the very outset, according to the game’s lead multiplayer designer Robert Cogburn.

The various microtransactions will allow players to purchase weapons, tools and upgrades for use within online battles, and although Naughty Dog has stressed that all the microtransaction content can be earned without spending a penny through the in-game currency, it would be undoubtedly quicker to outright purchase the obtainable equipment.

This news comes right after Paris Games Week, where Sony had a sizeable presentation, showing off the Uncharted 4 multiplayer for the first time through a trailer, which you can see below. The trailer highlights many of the playable characters, including Sully, Elena and Chloe, as well as some of the special abilities available for use in battle, such as the “El Dorado” totem featured in the first Uncharted game.

Uncharted will release worldwide for the Playstation 4 on March 18th.
