AlienTrap Games, the creators of Apotheon and Capsized, have recently released a new title called Cryptark. You play as a mercenary that’s sent out to board ancient alien ships, grab treasures and technology, and get out before the ancient security systems kill you. The game emphasizes the customization of your character. Choosing certain weapons and equipment keep gameplay varied when searching through the randomized ships.
While you can currently purchase Cryptark for $12.99 on their page, the game is currently in Early Access and only on PC. However, a PS4 blog post has revealed that Cryptark will be released sometime in 2016.
Galak-Z has recently shown us that the twin stick shmup is still a popular subgenre. Hopefully, Cryptark can keep the momentum going.
