A recent twitter post on Star Wars Battlefront’s official page revealed that the developers are shooting for a T rating for the game.
While this may come as a surprise to most, as DICE’s games in the past decade have almost all exclusively been “Mature” outings, this rating makes total sense for them to hit.
Star Wars is, at its core, a family brand of sci-fi. They aren’t fighting shape shifting mutant aliens, or acid-bleeding, monster-tongued xenomorths. This is your ET brand of sci-fi. As such, it stands to reason that they would try to find a middle ground where younger fans brought on by the recent trilogy, and older fans of the original trilogy can both enjoy what is looking to be one of this year’s best shooters. There is definitely no compromise being made here, as it’s just what Star Wars is.
Starwars Battlefront will be released on November 17th of this year.
