Though it has come and gone in different forms and under different names, but every year The Game Awards still takes a moment to honor the best of the year in video games, decided by critics from throughout the games industry. Last night saw The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt take three awards, Best Developer, Best RPG, and Game of the Year.

Rocket League and Metal Gear Solid V also came out noticeably ahead with the arcade car-soccer game winning for both Best Independent Game and Best Sports Game, and the massive stealth juggernaut receiving awards for Best Soundtrack and Best Action/Adventure Game.
