Reported by Game Informer.

Attempting to add some sort of backwards compatibility to the mix, Sony has announced that PlayStation 4 is going to be emulating PlayStation 2 games soon.

A video was reportedly put up on YouTube by Sony itself, showing off gameplay of Dark Cloud on the PlayStation 4. Since then the video has been taking down, however, a Tweet sent out by user @Bradazking has remained up.

There is indication that the emulation for PlayStation 2 games coming to the PlayStation 4 will be games that you could play on your PlayStation 3. A disc based library will not help you out in this situation, you will have to re-purchase items if you wish to play them on your PlayStation 4. “PS2 Classics and PS2-formatted discs are incompatible with the PS4 system,”

Game Informer claims that “Dark Cloud will be running at 1080p via up-rendering, support trophies, and utilize share play and remote play”
