Minecraft: Gear VR Edition is now available on the Oculus Store.

Mojang announced today that the VR version of Minecraft is now available for the Oculus Rift. The game is on sale now for $6.99, though it does require the separate gamepad peripheral. This version of the game supports all the features of the Pocket Edition, including Creative and Survival modes, skins, and multiplayer. Players will be able to choose between the default theater view or a first-person perspective that lets you stand beside your creations.

Minecraft originally released in 2011. Since then, the game has appeared on a number of platforms, including PC, mobile, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox One. The VR edition of the game was teased to have a 2016 release, but Mojang released it without giving gamers a heads-up. This is not the first time that the developer has released a game with very little fanfare. Last week, Mojang announced Crown and Council, a free Steam title, just as it made the game available to download.
