Announced last year at E3, Cuphead turned heads for its ‘classic’ cartoon aesthetics and charming character designs. Developed by Studio MDHR, the game showed off an original concept, an adventure game that has the aesthetics from vintage classic cartoon shows. That said, as you can see from the video, the game isn’t just banking on this gimmick, it’s a tough game and this footage shows this off.

The scope has changed since the beginning. Originally, the game was meant to be a simple ‘boss rush’ of sorts that pit player against some interesting bosses. Now, the game has expanded to a more adventure platformer type of gameplay. With enemies coming from both sides of the screen as Cuphead walks/jumps/dashes to the right side of the screen.

Cuphead is set for a 2016 release, there is no solidified release date. The game will be available to play on the Xbox One and PC.
