Microsoft has released a new launch trailer for Gears of War 4. The video was released on the company’s official Youtube channel. The trailer starts out by mention that this new entry into the series takes places 25 years after the events of Gears of War 3. Since the fall of the Locust, peace has come to Sera.
Marcus Fenix, the main character of the previous titles, has settled down and the horrors of the past are behind him and the citizens of Sera, or so they thought. The trailer introduces us to the Swarm, the new enemy faction of the game. “A new saga begins for one of the most acclaimed video game franchises in history. After narrowly escaping an attack on their village, JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy,” the description reads.
Gears of War 4 will follow JD Fenix, the son of Marcus Fenix as him and a new group of characters set out to face this new threat.
Gears of War 4 will also take advantage of Microsoft’s Play Anywhere program which allows gamers who purchase the game on Xbox One to also have the ablitiy to play the game on PC. This system will also carry game progress over from both platforms.
The game is set to release for Xbox One and PC on October 11th.
