World of Warcraft has been a massively successful MMO for over a decade now. Most game franchises would release a whole trilogy in that amount of time, but Blizzard has kept servers going this whole time and fans have been coming back for more. One trick to this success are expansions. There have now been six expansions to the World of Warcraft and the latest one seems to be quite popular.

If you didn’t already know, this weekend was not just Labor Day Weekend, but also PAX West. Blizzard spoke at this convention about how their latest World of Warcraft expansion, Legion, was fairing so far. “The early reviews are coming in, they’re really positive. Fan reception has been phenomenal,” they stated. “Concurrency – we’ve had to check and triple check our numbers, because it’s the highest they’ve been in recent memory. Several years, for sure.”

Obviously Legion has given a boost to the number of heroes roaming the land in World of Warcraft, which had been on the low end the past few months. It should be noted that Legion was only released about a week ago and we could see the numbers dwindle again after the hype goes down. In the meantime, however, we are happy for Blizzard to see such a high from Legion.
