It looks like Blizzard’s most popular gamer, D.Va of Overwatch, is coming to another of their most popular games: StarCraft II.
If you attend BlizzCon or buy a Virtual Ticket for the event, you’ll be able to snag a D.Va announcer and portrait pack. She’ll be released with six additional announcers in patch 3.7, but the most interesting aspect of her inclusion is that she’s the first official StarCraft II announcer that doesn’t exist within the StarCraft universe.
Her inclusion, in fact, is pretty meta. D.Va’s lore is that before piloting her Mobile Exo-force of the Korean Army (MEKA) for Overwatch, she became the world’s best StarCraft II player at the age of 16 (in-game, she’s 19). This is meant to explain how she pilots her MEKA so well. So, in a way, her being an announcer for StarCraft II still makes sense in-game.
You will be able to buy her announcer and portrait pack at a later date, but for now, you’ll need to get to BlizzCon or acquire a Virtual Ticket in order to get her chatting about the Terran, Zerg, and Protoss. (You can sample her dialog here, with such killers as “Nukes ready. Nerf this!” and “Zerg can’t do that without Creep. They’re not that O.P.!”)
