A new update has been released for Overwatch, bringing with it a number of new features.

One of the main features of the new update is the introduction of a new hero, Sombra. Sombra is able to hack her enemies, temporarily disabling their abilities. She is also able to hack health packs, making them useless. She uses a fully automatic Machine Pistol to take out her enemies, and can make use of her Thermoptic Camo, which grants her invisibility and a temporary speed boost. Sombra also has a Translocator, which can be tossed like a grenade. Sombra can then teleport to its location, even when it is in midair. Finally, her ultimate ability is EMP, which discharges electromagnetic energy in a wide radius, destroying enemy barriers and shields.

Another new feature being released in the new update is the Arcade. The Arcade lets players choose from a variety of rotating game modes, maps, and rulesets that don’t fit into Quick Play or Competitive Play. Options include 1-v-1 duels, 3-v-3 skirmishes, an alternating selection of brawls, and special rulesets such as “no hero switching.” Players will be able to earn Arcade-specific rewards, such as Loot Boxes.

Also being introduced is a new map, entitled Ecopoint: Antarctica. Ecopoint: Antarctica is a compact new Arena map that features modes such as 1-v-1 duels and 3-v-3 battles. Players will be able to check out the new map in the Arcade.

It has been announced that Season 3 of Competitve Play is on the way. Season 2 will end on November 23rd at 4:00 p.m. PDT, and Season 3 will begin on November 30th at 4 p.m. PDT. During the off season, players will still be able to join matches using the Competitive Play ruleset, but their skill rating will not be affected. Also, no Competitive Points will be rewarded. Adjustments have also been made for season 3, as players will be more broadly across the skill tiers. This means that players season 3 rating will probably be lower than their season 2 rating.

Also included in the update are a number of fixes for Overwatch. This includes general updates, hero balance changes, and bug fixes. You can read the full notes for the update here.

Overwatch is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
