When a game has been around and updated for over a decade, it eventually ceases to be the game it started out as in the first place. This is the case for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. While many things have been made better and there are a wide variety of more features since 2005, there are some who would like to go back to the good old days.

The team behind Nostalrius, an outsourced legacy server that Blizzard shut down, was actually invited to the main WoW headquarters to discuss the whole situation. According to their forums, Blizzard knows how much players want a legacy server and are working towards it. “After this meeting, we can affirm that these guys WANT to have legacy WoW servers, that is for sure,” as was stated on the forum. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. They have source code for vanilla/legacy servers, but many other assets such as maps, data, and models, would all have to be re-made. This could take a long time, especially considering the high standards that Blizzard has set for themselves over the years.

How much longer would you be willing to wait for World of Warcraft legacy servers? Do you think they will come any time soon? Let us know in the comments below.
