During their E3 2015 Direct presentation, Nintendo revealed a new upcoming amiibo: 8-bit Mario.

Nintendo has revealed a pair of Mario amiibo based on his classic 8-bit form. The amiibo come in two versions: one colored like the classic brown and red NES Mario, and his current red and blue 3D colors. The base of the amiibo is based off the series’ classic green pipes.

The news for the release of these amiibo comes after a recent image leaked. Nintendo has not specified whether or not the two 8-bit Mario amiibo will come separately or packaged together.

The 8-bit amiibo will be compatible with the upcoming Super Mario Maker. When tapped on the Wii U GamePad, Mario will grow to the size of the screen, much like a Mega Mushroom.
