Battleborn is the upcoming first-person shooter from developer Gearbox. While we have learned a few things about the game so far, there is still a lot that we do not know at this point. Now, Gearbox has released a few details on the upcoming title.

Gearbox has revealed that Battleborn will feature 25 unique, playable characters. They also announced that the game will have a story mode, which can be played either single-player or cooperatively. Story mode can be played with up to five friends, both online and split-screen. The story will allow players to replay missions for the opportunity to earn better loot.

Battleborn will have three “distinctly different competitive multiplayer modes.” Multiplayer can be played by up to 10 players in 5v5 games in either Incursion, Devastation, or Meltdown. Incursion pits teams against waves of AI-controlled minions, with teams working to defend their base while trying to destroy their opponents base. Devastation is an objective-based team deathmatch, while Meltdown has teams protect their minions “as they march to their death at the center of the map.”

All experience points earned in these modes work towards leveling up character rank and command rank. Character rank can be raised from 1 to 10, which unlocks skins as well as “swap out augments in their helix skill tree.” Command rank ranks up player profiles, and unlocks badges, loot, and other perks.

Battleborn will be releasing on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. There will be a playable version of Battleborn at this year’s E3.
