UPDATE – After announcing the cancellations were caused by errors in their ordering systems, GAME have since tweeted that Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition orders are “safe.” Customers who pre-ordered via the GAME website should expect an email within the next 48 hours. However, they have not specified when the games will be delivered.

UK retailer GAME has begun cancelling pre-orders of the coveted Pip-Boy Edition of Fallout 4 just days ahead of the game’s release.

GameSpot obtained an email from one of many disgruntled customers; this shows that GAME has been cancelling their pre-orders on the basis of issues with processing payments via PayPal.

It read “We have tried to process your order and have hit a few issues. Unfortunately, PayPal has come back to us and they have not allowed the payment to go through. For your security and privacy they do not share the reasons with us.”

The same customer who supplied this email also assured GameSpot that there was definitely enough money in the account for the £99.99 Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition, and there were no issues using the same account at a later date for another product.

Naturally, customers are not happy – GAME was the only place in the UK where the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition could be picked up, and as such pre-orders filled up rapidly. A visit to GAME’s official Twitter account shows how many customers have been affected – it has been inundated with complaints.

As of yet, there has been no mention of GAME either re-ordering or replacing Pip Boy Edition pre-orders with other editions. Katrina McGarry, one of the affected customers who claims to have spoken to a manager says they aren’t taking re-orders, which has also not been officially confirmed.

This reflects a similar issue that GAME had following up on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Collector’s Editions earlier this year – Customers were told initially there had been PayPal and/or bank errors, but they later cited an internal glitch in their systems as the root cause. This led to over 300 people being charged incorrectly.
