Movie adaptations of video games rarely prove to be a success, Hitman: Agent 47 does little to break this trend.

Hitman: Agent 47 grossed roughly 3$ million, making it the fourth performing movie Friday. In addition to performing worse than expected monetarily, the movie has also been blasted by critics. The movie has a measly 7% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 29/100 aggregate score on Metacritic. This makes Agent 47 one of the worse video game movies to date, even worse than 1990’s Super Mario Brothers movie, which sits at a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Straight Outta Compton topped the box office for the second week in the row, earning $8 million. Horror squeal Sinister 2 ranked second, grossing $4.7 million. Despite being in it’s fourth week, Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation also topped Hitman Agent: 47, raking in $3.4 million. Tom Cruise’s newest movie is expected to outperform Sinister 2 by the end of the weekend.

The next Hitman game was annouced at this year’s E3 and will come to Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Hopefully performing better than it’s film brethren .
