For most people, the fun in RollerCoaster Tycoon is to kill people in unique and inventive ways. For one 8chan user, it was to create a Rollercoaster that will take 210 real days to watch one full completion of. Or 3,000 in game years.
The post was found on Tumblr by user thathomestar (via Kill Screen) and details the post from 8chan. Way more importantly, it shows footage of the ride. The user boasts that he has found yet another way to slow down the rides for the customers, as the previously created “The Wheel of Life and Death” was thought to be one of the slowest rides possible.
The 8chan user is dubbing the roller coaster “Kairos – The Slow”. Part of the post explains how he attained such a slow ride, “When a roller coaster travels along a track of constant height its speed exponentially decays towards zero but never stops
With this in mind I build a spiral track on the biggest map. The train comes out of the station and hits breaks with slow it down to 4mph. then it travels along the track, always losing speed but never stopping, until it gets to the center. where it rolls back and does the spiral again until it gets back to the station. Calculations show that it would take 210 days to finish. not in game days. real life days.”
For comparison, the infamous Mr. Bones takes 70 minutes to complete, Wheel of life is 60 hours, and Kairos – The Slow is now a record setting 210 days long. You can find a video of the ride on Tumblr.
