Toronto based indie game company, Capybara Games, have announced that their rouguelike adventure game Below is now to set to be released next year.

Below was originally featured during the Xbox One conference in 2013 with a release date set for 2014, however was pushed to 2015. The game features permanent death and can be played in co-op, as well as a distinctive art style and soundtrack from Canadian singer-songwriter Jim Guthrie – renowned for his work on Capybara’s previous release Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery EP and 2012 documentary Indie Game: The Movie.

Capybara Games have had previous success in with their bullethell side-scrolling Super Time Force, released on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. More recently the Ultra edition, which featured over 50 levels and cameos from characters owned by Valve, was released on PC, PS4 and PS Vita in September of last year.

Nathan Vella, one of Capybara Games co-founders, spoke to Gameinformer stating “Below is indeed coming in 2016. Past that I can’t share much, yet. We’ll certainly have a lot more content to show and news to share in the new year.”

Below is due for release on Xbox One as a timed exclusive and becomes available on PC at a later date.
