That hasn’t stopped Marvel from taking notice, and they’ve signed him on to direct Black Panther. The movie will be releasing in 2018, and stars Chadwick Boseman.
Marvel took notice of Ryan Coogler after his first two feature length films. More notably, the seventh installment of Rocky. Ryan Coogler co-wrote and directed the film Creed, which was well received critically.
Producer Kevin Feige was excited to see Coogler join the team for Black Panther, having the following to say about the director. “The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”
