The latest Tomb Raider movie, starring Alicia Vikander, will apparently follow the plot of the 2013 video game of the same title.

While not much has been revealed on the movie, Vikander revealed some of what the plot’s going to be based on in a phone conversation with Hitfix.

“They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013,” she said to HitFix. “That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that’ll stand on its own two legs.”

The 2013 video game was a sort of origins story for Lara Croft, showing how she learned the skills she had acquired.

She also made comments about when she played the originals as a child. “I, with the rest of the world, was excited to see a female protagonist in a video game.” She admitted, “I was a bit scared playing it when I was 12, 13. I had to go take little breaks,” the now-27-year-old actress said.

The Tomb Raider movie is slated for a March 2018 release, although it will probably also be dependent on how Ubisoft’s other video game movie, Assassin’s Creed, performs.
