Id Software has released its fourth free update for Doom, which adds in a new arcade mode for campaign, multiplayer modes and SnapMap content.

Doom’s arcade mode essentially transforms the regular game’s singleplayer campaign into a fast-paced score-based challenge. “Compete against friends and players worldwide for the highest score by attacking demons quickly, avoiding their attacks and grabbing multipliers along the way,” Id Software explained.

In addition to arcade mode, the update adds Classic Doom modules to SnapMap that allow players to use assets based on the original games.

Also two new multiplayer modes included – Possession and Bloodrush.  Possession is a Prowlers vs. Marine mode that puts a team of marines up against several player-controlled Prowler demons. Marines who are killed will respawn as Prowlers.

Bloodrush puts a spin on normal free-for-all modes. Players must manage their Bloodrush meter in order to survive; kills and assists will add to your meter, while deaths and time will drain it.
