The Xbox One S will require an adapter in order to be compatible with the Xbox One Kinect. Now, thanks to Amazon, we have both a pricing and release date for the adapter.

The adapter will be available on August 31st, and will set gamers back $39.99. The adapter will also allow players to hook up the Kinect to a Windows 10 PC. Microsoft did previously announce that they will offer the adapter free to anyone who owns an Xbox One and a Kinect when they upgrade to an Xbox One S.

Microsoft had announced the Xbox One S during their press conference at this year’s E3. Rumors of the upcoming system had circulated in the days before the company’s press conference. The new console is 40% smaller than the original, and comes equipped with an IR blaster and an internal power supply. The new console will support 4K Ultra HD Blu-Rays, and the potential for up to 2TB of storage space. The system will also come packaged with an updated Xbox One controller.

The Xbox One S is expected to release sometime in August. It has been reported that the dedicated Kinect port was removed from the system in order to make it as small and compact as possible.
