In honor of Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition’s launch this week, all Killer Instinct players can access the brand-new campaign, Shadow Lords, for free.
“Fight the dreaded overlord Gargos in this team-based mode that is completely unique from any other fighting game. Collect loot, guardians and items that help ensure your fighters are ready to save the world,” said Killer Instinct Community Manager Rukari Austin in an Xbox Wire post.
Killer Instinct is available on Xbox One for free along with the campaign. The Definitive Edition, priced at $39.99, includes all content from the past three seasons – 26 fighters, 20 stages, plus all the costumes and accessories released. In addition, exclusive music, stories, history, artwork and a bonus Gold Gargos Skin come with the Definitive Edition. Anyone that picks up the game from a retailer will also receive a bonus Original Soundtrack disc.

Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition is also planned to release on Windows 10 sometime in the future. The game will support Xbox’s Play Anywhere program, meaning cross-purchase for PC and Xbox One.
