Jet Set Radio meets Mirror’s Edge in this free running and parkour based title.  We’ve been treated to some screens of the pre-launch game and it’s looking pretty sweet.  Come check them out.

“Hover: The Revolt of Gamers” is a futuristic 3D free runner in an open world environment.  The gameplay is very similar to that of the classic title Jet Set Radio and the parkour based action of Mirror’s Edge.  The game also takes inspiration from the open world Spiderman games.

In Hover you play as a Gamer Team from another world, in opposition to a dictatorship in their city.  Players will have to free the citizens restrained by the authorities, localize and then infiltrate into control centers of the anti video games propaganda, retrieve gaming consoles confiscated from the population to dethrone the new Mayor, who is the cause of all that mess.

Hover will be released for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, WiiU, Mac and Linux systems.  Particularly interesting is the total immersion that is given with Oculus Rift support.  More details of the game and release times will follow.

The screencaps look very stylish and it does seem to take a lot of artistic inspiration from Jet Set Radio.  They show us an interesting view of the dictatorship that run the place and a colourful array of characters to play as and take down the system with.
