PGL and Gd Studio have revealed a new online tournament where amateur players and teams will have the opportunity to play against the pros.  The tournament starts on September 16th and will be hosted via FACEIT.  There is a $50,000 prizepool which will be distributed between the amateurs in the open qualifiers and between the winner of the finals.

The format of the competition will see eight amateur teams advancing from the open qualifiers to the second stage.  The second stage of the tournament will take place in October.  Eight professional teams will also take part in the second stage which will be a single elimination bracket.  James “2GD” Harding, the CEO of the GD studio, talked about the event saying “We want to nurture the community and its future professionals while simultaneously looking pretty darn cool. We’ve done some small-scaled stuff in the same vein before, but this is much bigger and is organized with the top companies that still “like us”. Have you seen Rocky? It’s exactly like that.”

If you want to sign up for the open qualifiers you can do so here.  You must first sign up to FACEIT, and any players who played at The International main event, excluding the wildcard games, are not not eligible.
