Microsoft kicked things off today with the announcement of a new slimmer version of the Xbox One, called the Xbox One S. The new Xbox is a sleek and slim 40% smaller than the original Xbox One. It will launch sometime in August at $299.

It will support 4K Ultra HD video, Blu-ray video, and HDR. It comse equipped with an IR blaster, and an internal power supply. It will also come packaged with an updated Xbox One controller with a new textured grip and increased wireless range.

Rumors of the announcement circulated in the days and weeks leading up to Microsoft’s conference. Although most of the details were leaked yesterday the varied versions, price, and release window are all new information.
