Microsoft is bringing in the new year with four fantastic games for its Games with Gold program. These games will be free for gamers with active Xbox Live Gold subscriptions.
On January 1, Xbox One owners will get World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap. This game is a spinoff to the popular The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing franchise. Players are supposed to team up and use traps, towers, and spells to defend against hordes of monsters. Alternatively, players can possess said monsters in special PvP matches. Xbox 360 owners will receive The Cave, a humorous platformer developed by Double Fine. In The Cave, players control various characters and explore the titular cave. The Cave will also be available for Xbox One owners via backwards compatibility.
Starting January 16, Xbox One owners will receive Killer Instinct Season 2 Ultra Edition. Killer Instinct is a remake of the classic fighting game originally developed by Rare. The Season 2 Ultra Edition includes all season 2 characters (such as the ghostly Hisako and cyber-raptor Riptor), several new stages, new costumes, and the classic Killer Instinct 2 game. Xbox 360 owners will be able to play Rayman Origins, a fast-paced platformer where players run, jump, and punch through numerous creative levels. As with The Cave, Xbox One owners will be able to download Rayman Origins thanks to backwards compatibility.
These games will only be available to gamers with active Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. Unlike previous Games with Gold games, The World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap will be available for the entire month of January and Killer Instinct Season 2 Ultra Edition will be available from January 15 to Febuary 15. However, The Cave and Rayman Origins will only be available from January 1 to January 15 and from January 16 to January 31 respectively.
