Sniper Elite 4 is coming. Developers Rebellion have just showcased the first in a series of story trailers for their forthcoming shooter. It reveals the new setting of the Italian conflict during World War 2.

According to Narrative Designer Colin Harvey, detailed in a post on the PlayStation Blog, the Italian campaign offers “tales of heroism, sacrifice, subterfuge and intrigue to draw upon, with multiple factions fighting to survive in a country under Fascist rule.” Sniper Elite 4 will also deliver maps at least three times bigger than the previous title in the franchise, as well as drawing influence from real life locations and wartime events.

Rebellion promise more of these Intelligence Briefing style trailers in the lead up to the final release. This initial look sets the scene for your role in the conflict, without showing any actual gameplay. But fans of the series should know what to expect by now from Sniper Elite: plenty of choice for the player and your direction during the missions, as well as optional dialogue with different faction members, including Allied troops, Partisan fighters, Fascists and even the Mafia.

Sniper Elite 4 promises to be the largest and most beautiful looking game in the franchises history. Free pre-order content in the shape of the interesting prospect of the “Target Fuhrer” campaign mission and 7 camouflage rifle skins might help entice players to sign up early.

Sniper Elite 4 launches across the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on February 14th 2017.
