As can be seen in the trailer, Catwoman and Robin will be making a return to the Arkham series, with Nightwing coming along for his first run in the campaign ring. And even better yet, they seem to be pretty handy when it comes to combat.

With this newest trailer, Rocksteady is introducing what they call ‘dual play.’ Detailing just what that means, the developer explained, dual play “will allow players to seamlessly switch between The Dark Knight and his allies including Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman in FreeFlow Combat.”

It remains to be seen how this will work from a mechanics perspective, but the just the idea of mixing things up for the tried and true Arkham combat system is enough to get excited about.

While the trailer and Rocksteady’s press release don’t explicitly reveal the ability to explore Gotham as Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing, they don’t entirely rule it out either.

For fans of the previous games, the trailer also includes a quick voice over of Azreal, returning after his very strange side mission in Arkham City.

Batman Arkham Knight is set to release June 23rd. Are you excited for ‘dual play’? Or are you a Dark Knight purest who doesn’t need help? Let us know in the comments.
