After the devastating news that we won’t be seeing a public release of the new Warcraft movie trailer until November at least we get to see a glimpse of what to expect from the character posters of Durotan and Lothar, the VR app that Legendary released and of course the awesome set of props that were on display in San Diego this past week.
Richard Taylor and his WETA workshop have been responsible for the physical effects in the movie and you’ll recognize that name as the team behind the Lord of the Rings effects and props. And they haven’t disappointed with this one. We got to see weapons and armour from the film and there was a huge statue of Orgrim wielding his legendary Doomhammer. The look of the props feels very familiar and true to the artistic style of the game and gives a sense of reassurance about what we’re going to see. Russ Fischer from /Film got the chance to talk to Richard Taylor about his work on the Warcraft movie, check out his interview here.
