343 Industries has revealed that Halo 5: Guardians will open the game’s application program interface (API) to everyone. This will allow anyone to access player’s stats from Halo 5 to create new apps and websites.

343 Industries has stated that giving people access to the game’s data was a “top priority” during the development of Halo 5: Guardians. Developers will have access to the following from Halo 5’s API:

  • Service Record: Life-to-date stats for each player
  • Match History: Access to every match that has been played
  • Carnage Report: A statistical breakdown of every player in a game

This access will not replace the API’s existing functions over on Halo Waypoint, but 343 Industries has said, “Giving the community the ability to compile stats will allow developers to craft their own statistical story and experiences.”

“We know you’ll surprise and delight us with inventive and unexpected uses, and we can’t wait to see what you develop and share with the Halo community later this year and beyond,” 343 Industries said.

Halo 5: Guardians will be released on October 27th, exclusively on the Xbox One.
