George Lucas is one of the lucky few. He’s been to “the other side.” He’s already seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And his verdict? Apparently it’s pretty good, says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kennedy said that it’s been difficult for Lucas, who was intimately involved in the first six Star Wars films, “watching this go on without his direct involvement. At the same time, he really wanted to step away.”

With this being the first Star Wars film without Lucas’s involvement, many fans are somewhat worried over the next film. As well, Lucas had made comments about the direction the film was heading earlier in the year.

“The issue was ultimately, they looked at the stories and they said, ‘We want to make something for the fans,'” Lucas said. “I said, ‘All I wanted to do was tell a story of what happened–it started here and it went there. It’s all about generations and the issues of fathers and sons and grandfathers.’

Star Wars: The Force Awakens releases on December 18th (in case you haven’t heard by now).
