If, like myself, Star Wars: Battlefront has left a sour taste in your mouth and you’re hanging out for something a little truer to the Star Wars series, then this news is for you.

Reviewing Battlefront opened up some disappointment and left me feeling like a lot was lacking – especially after being blown away by The Force Awakens, but rumors were circulating about the possibility of a Star Wars RPG in the works, which let me hold hope. Thankfully, that has been all-but-confirmed by this job listing, for a ‘Senior Game Designer’ at EA/Visceral.

The challenge, as cited in the advertisement:

BRING YOUR SYSTEM GAME DESIGN SKILLS AND SAVVY AND YOUR LOVE OF STAR WARS TO VISCERAL GAMES, EMBRACING AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE PROJECT VISION IN AREAS OF HERO CONTROL/MECHANICS, AI BEHAVIORS, COMBAT/WEAPONS, CLASS DESIGN, SKILLS/PROGRESSION, ENEMY DESIGN, STORY AND BOSS ENCOUNTERS.

I couldn’t be more excited at the prospect of a Star Wars RPG – my house-mate and I have discussed it endlessly, usually while he’s playing Knights of the Old Republic.

The possibilities for setting are endless, and can span huge amounts of the Star Wars series, which lends to the excitement. Generally speaking, I avoid hype, it usually aligns itself with disappointment, but after seeing the graphic capability of Battlefront and seeing experiencing The Force Awakens, I can’t help but get a little excited.

So, until more details are released, I’ll continue to trawl Reddit, reading fan theories and discussing the possibilities with anyone and everyone who will listen.

How do you feel about a Star Wars RPG? Are you wetting your pants in excitement or is Rogue One keeping you occupied?
