The puffy pink blob returns to the Nintendo 3DS in Kirby: Planet Robobot as revealed so suddenly in the latest Nintendo Direct. Not only will he return in a virtual game, he’ll also return with a few of his friends in Amiibo form. Yes, Kirby: Planet Robobot will also launch alongside Amiibo for Kirby, Metaknight, King Dedede and a Waddle Dee.

In Kirby: Planet Robobot, mechanical interlopers attack Dreamland, and it’s up to our one true savior Kirby to save the world again. As per the routine, he returns with the ability to float in the air and stealing abilities with his powerful sucking powers. This time however, he also obtains the ability to pilot a mech which _also_ has the ability to suck up enemies and gain new powerups. There is supposedly more than 10 different ‘Robobot’ modes to use.

Furthermore, Kirby: Planet Robobot has Amiibo functionality. For some Amiibo, when tapped into the game, Kirby will receive their character specific ability. For example, Mario will give Kirby the ‘Flame Kirby’ ability and Link will give the Sword Kirby ability. As a fun note, tapping Kirby gives Kirby the Super Smash Bros. skillset to play. As for the new Kirby themed Amiibo, Kirby will gain a further costume change when one of the four new Amiibo are scanned. In particular, when the new Kirby Amiibo is scanned, the player will be able to use the one ability unavailable in the game without an Amiibo: the UFO transformation.

Finally, there’s one extra mode coming into the game called Team Kirby Clash. It serves as a boss rush mode you can play with up to four players. In it, all ‘Kirbies’ will choose a role in order to help each other take down harder bosses. As bosses are defeated, players will gain experience and levels to power up their roles. The game is download play which allows other players who don’t have the game to still play.

Kirby: Planet Robobot and accompanying Amiibo set will be available in the US as of June 10th, 2016.
