It is hard to believe that the very first Halo game came out three console generations ago. It was 15 years ago that players first tried out the game changing multiplayer of the series. After awhile, gamers made some of their own adjustments and mods. This led to the ever loved Infection Mode.

Infection Mode, which became hugely popular among players as a mod, has since become an official gameplay mode for series and is now making its way to Halo 5: Guardians. Like its previous version, it will feature human players who must survive against the zombies for as long as possible, so as not to be “infected.” There will be awards moving into each round for the last man standing, which can also be extended to numerous players for a last squad standing.

Game Informer recently got an exclusive hands-on with this mode that you can watch below. While we know Infection Mode is coming to Halo 5: Guardians this month, an exact date has not been announced. Owners will just have to chime in each day of May until their special package has arrived via the Memories of Reach update.
