The super-powered siren Black Canary is now officially a playable character in Injustice 2.
NetherRealm Studios is following through with its promise to include more obscure characters with the inclusion Black Canary. While not at the Detective Chimp level of obscurity, Black Canary is certainly not a character anyone expected (or hoped) to be playable. The original reveal came curtesy of IGN, but WB has since released the gameplay trailer.
The trailer shows off Black Canary’s martial arts and sonic screams. Many of her attacks involve her legs or feet, used either to kick her opponents or put them in an armlock. Furthermore, Black Canary appears to be very adept at grappling, and her screams are more than capable of launching enemies across the stage.
Even while NetherRealms has yet to add Black Canary to the official roster on the Injustice 2 website, the characters section now includes the bios of Bane, Poison Ivy, and Braniac. Sadly, these characters have not received their own gameplay trailers, despite being teased in the story trailer before Robin or Black Canary were ever revealed.
