Gamers have been reporting emails from Amazon concerning cancellation of their preorders of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition, just a month before release. According to a Neogaf user, Amazon is also limiting preorders to 1 per person, because of high demand and limited supply. So, anyone who ordered an extra copy for a friend as a gift is out of luck on that front too.

The email sent to the unlucky preorderers reads, “We’re unable to fulfill your order for the item(s) listed above because they aren’t available from the supplier any longer…We’re sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may have caused. To help make up for the inconvenience, we’ve applied a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card to your account.”

Those that have had their preorders cancelled have been gifted $10 of Amazon credit to their account, which is kind of a sad consolation prize, as this email went out after the website had sold out of the standard edition of the game.

Lost, stolen, and mislabeled merchandise happens all the time, but Amazon has yet to actually come out and explain the problem. At some point they must have assumed they had the correct amount of stock in the system, or so many preorders wouldn’t have gone through. With the latest Legend of Zelda set to come out March 3rd, a mass cancellation of preorders isn’t the best PR for the release.
