Microsoft is celebrating the start of spring with four new Games with Gold games. Only gamers with active Xbox Live Gold subscriptions can download these games for free.

Starting March 1st, Xbox One owners can play Layers of Fear. The well-received first person horror game casts players in the role of a struggling artist. As players wander the halls of the artist’s house, they encounter various terrifying events that may either be supernatural or the result of the artist’s ever-loosening grip on reality. Xbox 360 owners will receive a different first person game, Borderlands 2. In this game, players take control of one of four (six with DLC, sold separately) characters as they shoot, loot, and shoot some more across the alien world of Pandora. Many gamers consider it to be Gearbox Software’s magnum opus.

Xbox One owners can also download Evolve Ultimate Edition starting March 16th. Evolve is an asymmetrical multiplayer game where four players team up to track down and kill a gigantic and powerful monster controlled by a fifth player. The game was originally criticized for lackluster gameplay and horribly implemented DLC practices, but the Ultimate Edition includes all available characters, monsters, and skins. On the same day, Xbox 360 owners will be able to play Heavy Weapon. A simple but fun arcade game, Heavy Weapon tasks players with controlling a tank that dodges and shoots through story missions, survival mode, and online co-op.

These games are only available to players with active Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. Layers of Fear will be available for the entire month of March, and Evolve Ultimate Edition will be available from March 16th to April 15th. Meanwhile, Borderlands 2 will only be available between March 1st and 15th, and Heavy Weapons will be available from March 15th through the 31st. As always, Xbox One owners can play the Xbox 360 games (Borderlands 2 and Heavy Weapon) through backwards compatibility.
