When the next expansion for Destiny launches next month, The Taken King, it’ll increase the game’s current level cap from 34 to 40. And as confirmed earlier this week at Gamescom 2015, the game will be ditching the current light leveling system in favor of a simply using XP and The Taken King will allow new players to skip right to the good stuff.

In an interview with Polygon, Destiny’s community manager Deej revealed that those who purchase The Taken King receive a one-time level boost to level 34. It’s a consumable item that can be used to skip the initial grind through the game. The item isn’t just limited to new players however, old players can take advantage of the item too.

While Deej wouldn’t provide anymore information on the feature, he said it would let players be “poised on the starting line of The Taken King.”

Destiny: The Taken King launches on September 15 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

great so this confirms, lots of first timers getting the full game and all dlc’s at a reduced price will be able to boost through the story missions with minimal fuss and then struggle to do endgame content with crap gear…and us legends will have to put up wtih stupid inane questions and people sponging.
