Though perhaps best known in the nerd community for his work in science fiction, specifically Firefly and the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One, Alan Tudyk has also enjoyed a career as a voice actor, lending his voice to everything from iRobot to Frozen. Speaking to IGN in the lead up to his newest project, Con Man, Tudyk admitted Uncharted 4 was almost added to that list.

“I worked on Uncharted, the one that has yet to come out – I was doing a role on that,” he said. Joking about being possibly being fired or quitting himself, he continued, “I mean, I left because they decided to go a different way with it and so when they did that, when they changed leadership, it made my contract null and void and I was able to take that opportunity to walk away which was great because I got the experience of doing it, I made some friends – not with Naughty Dog – but I made some friends with the people that left.”

Tudyk is referring to the rather public exit of creative director, and creator of the Uncharted games, Amy Hennig, from the developer. Following her departure, evidence has since surfaced pointing to the fact the game was turned in a radically new direction.

Speaking of Todd Stashwick, also a cast member for Con Man, who left Uncharted 4 after the shuffle, “Todd Stashwick was in that as well… and he did the same thing I did which was ‘yeah we’re gonna leave now. Y’all are making some weird changes, we’re gonna leave’. Sorry Nolan [North, voice actor for Nathan Drake, who is also in Con Man], we left you, we just walked away, we abandoned him.”

Written and directed by Tudyk, Con Man’s cast, along with Nolan North and Todd Stashwick, includes a who’s-who of fan-favorite sci-fi actors, amongst them Nathan Fillion, Sean Maher, Gina Torres, James Gunn, Seth Green, Felicia Day, Sean Astin, Summer Glau, Joss Whedon and Amy Acker.
