The first story set in J. K. Rowling’s “Wizarding World” since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to see a film release, Fantastic Creatures and where to find them is a film based on Rowling’s 2001 novella of the same name which takes place a good 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter stories. The prequel film will be starring Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a “magizoologist” who embarks upon an adventure to find and document magical creatures in 1920s New York. The film is currently in production and is slated for a release sometime in 2016, as for now though we’ve been graced with some teaser images of the film in its early production, care of Entertainment Weekly.

From what we have to go on, I personally am pretty hyped. The movie appears to have that nice, heavy dose of “whimsical charm” that made the earlier Harry Potter films so fun to watch. Obviously there is more to come, and the film could of course turn out to be complete garbage but for now… I don’t know, I might just be swept up in how adorable albeit confused Eddie Redmayne looks in his role as Newt Scamander.

Don’t judge…
