Square Enix has released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. The trailer reveals a December 2016 release window, along with gameplay of a new playable episode called, Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage.
This new entry is expected to transition events in the lead up to Kingdom Hearts III, and will star Aqua, one of the main protagonists of Birth by Sleep. As seen in the trailer, the episode will run utilizing the stunning Kingdom Hearts III engine.
In addition, 2.8 includes Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover, which will provide insight on the mysterious Foretellers through cinematic cutscenes. From what is shown, the Foretellers appear to be Keyblade wielders who curiously wear animal masks.
The total package also comes with an HD remaster of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, originally released on the Nintendo 3DS. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue will launch exclusively on the PlayStation 4 and Square Enix will be showing off the game on the show floor next week at E3.
