Crystal Dynamics has released footage of Rise of the Tomb Raider running on the upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro console, featuring multiple visual improvements.

Gary Snethen, Crystal Dynamics chief technology officer, explained in a tech video that three different visual options are available to players on PS4 Pro – 4K Resolution, High Frame Rate, and Enriched Visuals.

The 4K Resolution mode provides enhancements to textures, silhouettes and other effects, running at 30 frames per second. The High Frame Rate mode lets players play at 60 fps at 1080p resolution with smoother animations. Enriched Visuals plays at 30 fps at 1080p, but uses the extra power to improve rendering effects and image quality.

Additional upgrades include hardware tessellation, anisotropic filtering, additional dynamic foliage and more.  The Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration edition, which launched last month, includes the Blood Ties and Lara’s Nightmare DLC, an Extreme Survivor difficulty and more. It also includes VR support for the PS4.

The game’s compatibility with the PS4 Pro will be available when the console launches on October 10. Rise of the Tomb Raider first launched exclusively on Xbox One in 2015.

30fps and improved rendering and all

I’ve never felt that strongly about framerate. So I would personally go with the 30fps and improved rendering since I don’t have a 4K tv. It’s nice that they are giving players the option though.
