In celebration of Youtube’s 10th anniversary, Youtube is calling today, “Let’s Play Day.” As part of the celebration, Youtube has announced the top 10 most watched games on the site. A surprising game has come out on top, Minecraft.
Minecraft is a relative new comer as it was released on November of 2011. Less than four years on Youtube is all it took for Minecraft to become the most watched video game on the website. To pick a winner, Youtube calculated the total time watched on videos featuring some of the most popular video games. Minecraft beat out other huge games/series for the title, such as Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Fifa. In 2014, Minecraft was even viewed more than some of the most popular celebrities, including Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
