The Halo series has sold more than 65 million units according to Microsoft.

The company announced the sci-fi shooter series has reached this new milestone, up from 60 million units reportedly sold in October 2014. The only release in the franchise since that point is Halo: Master Chief Collection in November of 2014, which despite its problems with online functionality, it’s safe to assume it probably sold a copy or two.

The Halo series originally debuted on the Xbox in 2001 and continues to be a core franchise on Microsoft consoles with its next iteration coming in the form of Halo 5: Guardians, coming to Xbox One on October 27 this year.

As far as the next game in the series goes, developer 343 Industries recently warned players against rushing through the new game, but promises surprises are coming in the new campaign. This past week at San Diego Comic Con, the 343 reaffirmed their commitment to reaching 60 FPS in the game.

343 boss Bonnie Ross said there are “hundreds” of stories from the Halo universe yet to be told, so we can only expect this massive sales number for the series to only increase from this point on.
