Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is ditching a lot of things from previous titles in the series, but microtransactions do not appear to be one of them.

Ubisoft Quebec development director Francois Pelland confirmed that the upcoming title in the series will indeed have microtransactions but assured they will be completely optional for players.

“Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will include paid options to save time and accelerate progress,” Pelland said. “The model for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is quite similar to Black Flag, allowing players who do not have time to fully explore our huge game world to still be able to eventually acquire the game’s most powerful gear as well as other items. Rest assured, all of AC Syndicate’s content is available without paying anything additional and the game has been balanced such that microtransactions are 100% optional.”

Pelland stressed that everything in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be able to be earned through regular gameplay. No pricing regarding the microtransactions have been detailed at this time.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate arrives on PS4 and Xbox One on October 23 and PC in November.
