Doom’s multiplayer mode alpha test sign-ups are now live! At QuakeCon in July, it was revealed that the alpha will be a small test before the beta. The tests will be available to people who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order and will likely be made available to others as they need to do further testing.

The tests are described as “a series of development-driven tests designed to stress test the game’s dedicated server infrastructure in a real-world consumer environment.” The alpha is limited to a single map in a 6v6 deathmatch. Six weapons are available along with two pieces of equipment and a single power weapon, which is a one-hit kill. Another feature is a Revenant, which gives the player a jetpack and dual rocket launchers for a limited time when they pick up the Demon Rune.

Weapons

  • Vortex Rifle
  • Super Shotgun
  • Repeater
  • Rocket Launcher
  • Static Cannon
  • Plasma Rifle

Equipment Items

  • Personal Teleporter
  • Frag Grenade

The game’s publisher, Bethesda, claims the game will compete well in the online shooter space because it offers a different kind of shooter experience. If you have yet to redeem your Doom beta code, you can enter it on Doom’s official website here. Doom is set for a spring 2016 launch.
