With the release of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak only weeks away now, Gearbox has put together a story trailer for the upcoming RTS game. A prequel to the acclaimed space-based RTS series, Deserts of Kharak is a land-based RTS that see the player take control of units in a volatile desert set in the same sci-fi universe.
As the trailer explains, something has been found deep in the desert, an anomaly, and an expedition has been put together to go find it. Developed by Blackbird Interactive, a team made up of veterans from the original games, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is the first new game released in the series since Gearbox bought the IP from THQ in 2013. While last year saw the release of the well-received HD remakes of the first two Homeworld games, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is due to release for PC on January 20th.
