The Metal Gear Solid franchise is looked on fondly by most gamers, and even in light of the recent Konami & Kojima incident, the future looks solid. (Pun intended)

That won’t stop long time fan Airam Hernandez from re-creating the first game in Unreal Engine 4. Because of the legal actions Konami could take against Hernandez, he has decided to share his project from the beginning.

“Konami owns the MGS copyright and therefore sooner or later we will need their full permission.
We have therefore chosen to openly share this project from the beginning so that we can deal with any issues that may arise as they come.
We believe this is better than putting years of work into a project only to get it shut down.
Please, respect this decision.” (source via Eurogamer)

Although several fans have voiced their opinion about how Konami will never give permission, Konami will have to bother to send out a cease and desist if they think it’s counter-productive for the future of the franchise.
