The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter just got a little messy – partially thanks to those who participated in it.
Developer Ys Net posed a survey among backers of the game asking if they should extend the Kickstarter rewards to those who backed the game via PayPal.
Over 15,000 of the 68,533 backers responded to the survey producing the following results
- 30.9 percent – Yes, please make the Kickstarter exclusive rewards available on Paypal.
- 26.5 percent – No, Kickstarter exclusive rewards are for Kickstarter only.
- 42.6 percent – Either is fine with me.
Shenmue series creator Yu Suzuki said the following in response to the survey, despite almost 75 percent of respondents being okay with the possibility of PayPal users receiving the rewards.
”Considering the strong response from those of you who felt that the Exclusive Rewards should remain exclusive for the Kickstarter, those Exclusive Rewards will not be made available on the PayPal page as originally promised,” he wrote.
Some users have been upset by the decision, while others are calling for a new survey removing the “either is fine with me” option.
